Part II Weight Loss Meal Plan with Wu Yi Tea

By Caitlin Ryan

Ready to look and feel fantastic with a wu yi (oolong) tea weight loss plan? I have some fabulous ideas for breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks and even dessert that will help you achieve your weight loss goals while maintaining a healthy diet.

In my plan, I use wu yi oolong tea along with whole grains, veggies, fruit, nonfat dairy and lean proteins. I enjoy eating and feel that its important to lose weight while not going hungry or settling for boring health foods. This plan will allow you to be creative and follow this plan for life to lose weight and maintain a healthy weight.

My favorite breakfast meal is a poached egg placed on a slice of whole meal toast. I sprinkle herbs and pepper sauce on top for added flavor. I also have a mug of wu yi tea with a wedge of lemon. You can also have whole grain cereal or oatmeal with a "-cup nonfat milk and berries.

Not a big egg fan? How about a few pieces of lean deli turkey on the toast with a thin layer of Dijon mustard, fresh tomatoes and marinated mushrooms? The idea is that you have a lean protein source with a whole grain carbohydrate. Flavoring the meal with veggies adds nutrients and more fiber, which will help you lose weight.

Remember that eating frequently is part of my wu yi diet to raise your metabolism. You will have a mid-morning snack and a mid-afternoon snack. Use a lean protein with fruit or veggies. My favorite? I sprinkle a teaspoon of flaxseed in nonfat yogurt.

More snack ideas: fresh strawberries with a spoon of nonfat vanilla yogurt; almonds with mango; one slice deli turkey with one light string cheese. Do not forget to drink your wu yi oolong tea!

For lunch, use a handful of pre-washed baby lettuces or spring greens and add some lean protein and lots of veggies for flavor. Lean protein choices include fish, turkey, chicken or even garbanzo beans. You need about two ounces (a bit smaller than a deck of cards).

It is a good idea to plan ahead and cook an extra piece of lean protein at your dinner the night before. Planning is key in any weight loss plan! Use more veggies adding as much color and flavor as possible.

Flavor your salad with a bit of pepper sauce, lemon juice or vinegar (balsamic is a good choice). Creamy dressings contain up to 300 calories per serving which is why many people who eat salads fail to lose weight. Make sure you enjoy a glass of iced wu yi tea.

Your evening meal should be lean protein (your choice), side veggies with salad, and a small serving of whole grain such as couscous or brown rice. Quinoa is another lovely side dish. Try marinating your lean protein choice with a bit of olive oil mixed with herbs, garlic, onion, lemon juice and vinegar.

Am I forgetting anything? Oh yes! Dessert! Whether you are a salty or sweet (or both) type person, you should allow your taste buds a little treat now and again to stave off that binge monster.

People who enjoy salty foods should skip the chips and have a few cups of popcorn seasoned with pepper flakes or sea salt. Toasted pumpkin seeds are also satisfying. I have a sweet tooth and rather enjoy a mug of oolong and vanilla herbal tea with a tasty square of very dark chocolate. You might consider a bowl of berries with nonfat, sugar-free whipped topping.

Losing weight is easy if you drink wu yi tea and flavor healthy foods the right way. Wu yi is a great tasting tea.
